Girls und Panzer Blu-ray Media Review Episode 1

by Yumiko

Losing isn’t an option.

Recent transfer student, Miho Nishizumi, has restarted her life upon the School Carrier, Zuikaku. Her days at Ooarai Girls Academy weren’t filled with thrills, though she was simply happy to be away from her old life. Now, while her stay at Ooarai started off lonely, she quickly attracted two close friends, Hana Isuzu and Saori Takebe. Unfortunately, their happy day together was shattered when Miho learned what the student council planned. The sole reason she had transferred to Ooarai was to avoid senshado. Though Ooarai Girls Academy had long abandoned their senshado classes, it’s suddenly making a come back. On top of this fact, the student council president, Anzu Kadotani, is adamant about Miho picking senshado as her elective. The Nishizumi’s are legends when it comes to senshado, but Miho truly wants nothing to do with this sport. A prior incident has haunted her memories for quite some time, and she’s made that fact clear to her friends.

What in the world is senshado? The following day, the student council put on a school assembly to hype up the return of senshado. Advertised as an art form that creates future leading ladies, Hana and Saori were instantly sold on the idea of becoming a part of a tank unit. However, they value their friend above their future prospects. They’ll happily follow Miho into her elective of choice. After turning in their elective papers, Miho was summoned to the student council office. She won’t be going in alone, though. Hana and Saori backed up Miho through a ruthless onslaught of words. Although Miho could hardly utter a word herself, she was compelled to act after seeing how much her friends cared for her. Despite her prior memories with senshado, she’ll be joining 20 other students in reigniting her school’s senshado team.

It should be noted that Girls und Panzer has a lot of characters. We haven’t met the entire main cast yet, but you really only need to know five names. Outside the main group, I’ll mostly be referring to characters by their tank’s nickname or school name. Moreover, this is another show I promised a while back. Though I’ll probably only be able to do the first season and maybe the movie, this is a show I’ve been looking forward to covering. To date, Girls und Panzer der Film is my favorite anime movie. Here’s hoping I can last long enough to get that one covered. Anyhow, they’ve only just taken their first steps. Enjoy a wide selection of cute girls plus tanks!

It’s nice to see Girls und Panzer covered here since the girls themselves are mostly cute and beautiful.
