Didn’t feel a thing.
At the request of her best friend, Risa Shiramine, Kaede Honjou has reluctantly agreed to play a VRMMORPG. Although Risa can’t join her until tests are over, she encourages Kaede to give it a try. As a novice when it comes to video games, Kaede dove into NewWorld Online with zero expectations. After setting her avatar’s name as Maple, she faced her biggest problem yet. She doesn’t want to get hurt while playing this game. Fortunately, there was a class just for her. As a Great Shielder, she’ll have the highest defense stats in the game. Still, she’s gone the extra mile with this one. She’s allocated all her status points into vitality. Upon officially stepping into her new world, Maple was ready to grind. Unfortunately, she soon realized the price of stacking a single stat. She’s moving slower than everyone else, but that’s okay. As long as she doesn’t get her, she’s ready to take on anything. Despite her low attacks and speed, she managed to gain numerous abilities and skills on her first day. Who knew getting hit and taking zero damage could be so rewarding. Nonetheless, there’s only so much fun one can have in a day. After placing all new status points into defense, it was time to call it a night.
The following day, Maple eagerly jumped back into NewWorld Online. However, she’s begun to realize everyone around her has cool looking armor. Wishing to look as amazing as everyone else, she approached a fellow Great Shielder. After discussing her plight with Kuromu, he introduced her to his personal armor crafter, Iz. While Maple was excited to know what she could look like in the future, it’ll cost her a pretty penny. She’ll need one million before Iz can start making a set for her. Regardless, they’ve both pointed her in the right direction to start making money. Before taking off for the Poison Dragon’s Labyrinth, Kuromu traded her a number of potions. Though they didn’t believe Maple would go in alone, she’s done the near impossible. Not only did she clear out the trash, she’s devoured the dungeon boss. Thanks to Kuromu’s potions, Maple was able to build up total immunity to poisons. Still, fighting against such a high level beast with her equipment wasn’t possible. With only her teeth as a weapon, she slowly nibbled her way to victory.
At the end of Maple’s second day, she stood in a unique spot. She’s gained the abilities of her foe, and an exclusive set of armor. What she had just done was a world first, though such feats don’t come without others noticing. Word of a strange Great Shielder has begun to make rounds within Kuromu’s friend group. They’ll be keeping a close eye on her moving forward. Nevertheless, Maple can’t spend all her time playing video games. She’s gotta study for the upcoming tests, too.
In order to fill the gaps left behind by the current global crisis, I’ll also be partially covering Bofuri this season. It’s unlikely it’ll all be covered this spring, but I’ll keep at it. Expect to see Maple every Tuesday until further notice. Additionally, please note that this post is using a different video player.
