Date A Live Blu-ray Media Review Episode 10

by Yumiko

Think you can take the heat?

Kotori’s arrival was a double-edged sword. She has more than enough power to stand up to Kurumi, but transferring her spirit powers away from Shido leaves him vulnerable. There won’t be a second life if he goes down. However, that’s not the worse of it. Unlike the other Spirits, wielding Efreet comes with a toll. As the battle rages on, Kotori begins to lose herself little by little. Bringing Kurumi down to her knees wasn’t enough, she was ready to end her. Fortunately, Shido will not allow her to continue. He’ll be standing right in front of her final blast. It was a gamble, but one that paid off. Kotori was able to regain her composure, although not before knocking the wind out of Shido.

The results of the rooftop fight were less than desirable. Origami, Mana, and Shido all lost consciousness throughout the battle. Kurumi was able to escape thanks to Shido’s brave stand, yet further trouble awaited his awakening. Kotori has been quarantined. While Shido can talk to her, he gets the direct bad news from Reine. Kotori will only be able to withstand her spiritual energy for two more days. Any longer than that, then the Kotori they all know and love may vanish. Shido only has one focus moving forward. He must use all he’s learned thus far to reseal his little sister.

5 years ago, a moment that forever changed 3 lives took place. First, Kotori became a Spirit. During that hectic moment, Shido was gravely wounded. Not knowing what to do to save her brother, Kotori kissed him. That kiss not only saved his life, it forever changed their futures. Shortly after that event, Kotori was recruited by Ratatoskr. They showed her what was going on around the world, and that was enough to convince her. With her aid and eventually Shido’s ability, they could save all the Spirits. Furthermore, even 5 years later, Kotori has always had a concern in the back of her mind. When she became a Spirit, did she kill anyone? Well, there’s one girl that truly believes she did. When Shido went to checkup on Origami, she revealed her past to him. Everything Origami has done for the past 5 years was to get revenge for her parents. What the Spirit of Flames did can not be forgiven. She’ll get the blood she desires one way or another. Anyhow, the memories of the past are still in fragments. Enjoy remembering a piece of the puzzle!
