Mahoutsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus’ Bride) T.V. Media Review Episode 24

by Yumiko

The suffering ends here!

Chise, with the help of Elias and Ruth are ready to put an end to Joseph long night. However, in order to put this restless monster down, Chise, must get in real close. By using her own body as bait she’s able to pin him down. That was just long enough for Ruth to take out his new eye. Now, with the eye gone, Chise, unleashes her master plan. Remember the lullaby? Well, time for this immortal monster to finally receive some much needed rest.

All right, the Joseph threat has finally been dealt with. However, I’d like to just point out that the source material technically ends with the previous episode. Now, I know anime and source materials can stray from one another even from the beginning. Still, this anime has been very faithful. So, how things go down during this episode is more than likely how it will end in the manga as well. The final piece of the episode is questionable, though. It may have just been some last minute fan service, but Chise sure does look beautiful in a veil. Even Elias sprang up an emotion when he saw her.

Looking back after 24 episodes and 3 OVAs I definitely can say the ride was well worth it. Yet, at the same time I have to admit this was the most challenging show I’ve covered here. Why is that? Well, if you ever try stitching up media for this show you’ll notice something real fast. Even to the very end this show had me working extra hours. Anyhow, besides that visually, Mahoutsukai no Yome, is a beautiful world with danger around every corner. It was pleasure to capture Chise from start to finish. Any episode that stood out always got a special note here.

Finally, I’d like to say this is one anime no fan should miss out on. There’s a little of everything in this one. Anyways, moving forward the only choice now is to wait for more manga chapters to be released. Mahoutsukai no Yome, is a monthly series, so do keep that in mind if you plan to keep on following the story. Nevertheless, it has been a real blast and I’ll miss watching it weekly. So, let’s get this final media ride going. Enjoy!

OP: interestingly enough the final episode put together a new opening.
