Is that a hotel?
Shortly after their most recent battle, Fifth Mobile Fleet arrived at their new base of operations. The mission to destroy Abyssal Base MO is on hold for now, but there’s plenty to be found upon Truk Island. This island plays host to the strongest Fleet Girl, Yamato. While she holds a heavy title, it wasn’t long before Fubuki got to know her. As it turns out, Yamato has never set sail upon the big blue. Knowing how it feels to be left out among all the Fleet Girls, Fubuki attempted to get Yamato out into the water. Unfortunately, Nagato shut her down instantly. There’s a reason Yamato isn’t allowed to set sail. However, Fubuki attempted once more that night. She got Yamato’s feet wet, yet she soon found out why Yamato isn’t allowed to fight. This is one battleship that consumes way too many resources. Nonetheless, Fubuki refused to give up. The following day, Fubuki and her close friends took Yamato out on a raft. This is a day Yamato won’t soon forget. Not only was she able to sail with her fellow Fleet Girls, she even sneaked in some combat. Although the power Yamato rang through the air was immediately noticed, Nagato will go easy on them just this once.
If you’re unfamiliar with how Yamato operated in real life, then this episode can be a real fun one. In reality, Yamato’s nickname, “Hotel”, was truly what she was. She was a battleship nearly just for show. Yes, she had superior firepower at the time, but the cost to operate her was ludicrous. Fortunately, the show gives her a little love. Let’s just hope they have enough resources to keep her going throughout this war. Moreover, this chapter was the designated beach episode. While I’m always a fan of these events, don’t get your hopes up too high. The beach segment was over in the blink of an eye. Anyhow, it’s not nice to call others hotel. Enjoy life at the new base!
