Let’s start the new year off right!
And what better way to do that other than a New Year’s themed episode. Konohana Kitan, final episode features a grand celebration to bring in the new year. Our entire cast head down to town to offer their prayers to the Gods. However, before that, Yuzu, gets her hands on a mysterious scroll while cleaning out Ookami’s room. Ookami, believed it to be nothing more than trash, but this scroll holds an importance long forgotten. Anyhow, back at the celebration, Yuzu, is accidentally shoved and drops the scroll. While chasing after the scroll she wonders into the path of the Gods. This is a place she shouldn’t be, yet although she may be lost all hope isn’t gone. While standing in the middle of the path Yuzu is bumped into again. This time she’s mistaken as a Kenzoku delivery girl because she’s holding one of their scrolls. The girl that bumped into her is, Tsubaki, and also works for the Kenzoku. She takes Yuzu back with her believing they were both the same. Yuzu, was finally about to learn what the scroll she held was and her fate.
Upon arriving at the Kenzoku’s headquarters, Yuzu, is amazed. The Kenzoku are a group that writes down the wishes of humans and fulfills them if they meet certain requirements. Yuzu, witnesses a young boy praying for his mother health. The child’s wish is recorded and medicine able to help his mother is being sent. Upon seeing that Yuzu is brought to tears, but again she shouldn’t be here. After a quick explanation of her circumstances, Tsubaki, tells her she can no longer return home. She’s currently in a realm where her inn does not exist. Yuzu, is a bit dishearten, though she never gives up hope. Tsubaki, is inspired by her and does everything in her power to help, Yuzu. However, unknown to the both of them, Tsubaki, had already given Yuzu her key back home. The sealed scroll held by Yuzu was long ago written by Tsubaki to help those that had lost there way home. It’s a tearful scene, although a heartwarming ending. Yuzu, is finally able to return home and celebrate New Years with her loved ones.
Konohana Kitan, has honestly been a fantastic ride from start to finish. It’s not 100% perfect, but each episode went down smooth. An easy 8/10 from me personally. There’s no major overall plot, yet one can take away that Yuzu and the girls will be happily enjoying life for the foreseeable future. And with that let’s head on into the media. Enjoy this last piece of, Konohana Kitan!
