How low can you go?
Outside its initial episode, Phantom World is largely forgotten today. However, there’s a good reason this episode caught eyes. Kyoto Animation aren’t known for their bouncy characters. So when Mai rolled into the scene it was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, that’s typically not enough to save a show. There’s a limit to how much an adaptation should change from its source. Though a perfect adaptation is just a dream for most.
