Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel – II. Lost Butterfly Movie Review

by Yumiko

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

After exactly one year, we’re back with more Heaven’s Feel. I’d say it was well worth the wait. Just about anything coming from Ufotable is a gift these days. Now, as always these movie reviews are split into two. Within this post you’ll find a whole lot of Sakura. She is the main heroine of this route, after all. Still, it can’t go without saying how great it is to see her smile for once. In the majority of adaptations, Sakura is known to get the short end of the stick. However, it was a pleasure to see the lengths Shirou went for her. Even as she pushed him away, she’s brought back to the only place she can call home. Additionally, those that make it to part 2 of the review shall witness the height of their relationship. There’s no dolphins to be found this time.

Aside from the phenomenal romance, we got to see Sakura stand as a Master. If you weren’t aware, Shinji isn’t Rider’s true master. However, she never wished to compete for the grail. Fighting her beloved senpai or distant sister was something she never wanted to do. On top of that, Shinji put a whole lot of pressure on her to transfer ownership. Although Shinji has finally learned how far he can push his “sister”. Normally Rider would never make it quite this far into the war, but this route will have her walking into the last film. Furthermore, Rider’s continued presence guaranteed more service. Whether she’s Avenger, Lancer, or Rider, Medusa is perfection crafted by the gods themselves. Anyhow, prepare thy scroll wheel. Enjoy the first half of this year’s gift!
