Let’s push it to the limits one last time.
Foiling the anti-peace faction will take every ounce of strength Violet has to offer. Even at the cost of falling apart, securing today’s victory means so much more. Peace is finally on the horizon for this war-torn continent. And with just a little luck, our golden girl is able to pull off the impossible. It may of have been a close call, but she’ll be stronger than ever after this event.
Now that peace has been achieved let’s talk about the plot a little bit. The source material for Violet Evergarden is only just 2 novels. These two novels only make up 13 chapters, so it’s not like there’s a lot more to go on. However, when you’re working with Kyoto Animation things tend change quite a bit. I don’t want to spoil anything for the future, yet it needs to be noted that the ending here is very different from the novel. Let’s just say a key individual is missing.
So, with the above in mind you’ll be happy to know that a continuation of some sort is coming. Whether if it’s a season 2 or a movie is up in the air right now. Additionally, a new novel featuring more short stories was released last month. Maybe we’ll see some of it with the continuation, or even get some of the forgotten content from the main novels animated. And, there’s still an OVA to come, too! Violet Evergarden content should be good going forward at least for a time.
Lastly, I’d like to take a quick look back. From the beginning I was very skeptical when I picked this show up for reviewing. I must say the written descriptions out there don’t do this work justice. It even led to some confusion once the anime started airing. I’ve read a few comments where people actually thought Violet was a robot. Anyhow, after going through it all I can say without a doubt it was a worthwhile journey. Visually it was beautiful from start to finish. Mixed into this adventure was a whole leap of emotions that even got me choking up at times. This was one anime experience I can say I was invested in.
