Violet Evergarden T.V. Media Review Episode 8

by Yumiko

Time for a trip down memory lane.

Episode 8 is different from what we’ve had thus far. Instead of the normal episodic ghostwriting story, it’s all about Violet this time. During the end of the previous episode Violet found out the truth. Gilbert is dead, yet she can’t accept this reality. In order to make sure this really is the truth she runs off to confirm Gilbert’s death. Sadly, all that awaits her is an empty grave.

Now, the majority of this episode take place in the past. Very little of it is during Violet’s present time. What we’re given during this episode is Violet’s beginning with Gilbert and ending during the final night of the war. A few of these memories have been sprinkled about during prior episode, although there’s a lot of new footage, too. The biggest take away from seeing the past is Gilbert’s handling of Violet. He never truly wanted this life for her. However, he had very little choice in the matter. Seeing the bloodthirsty and emotionless Violet never felt right by him. Nevertheless, in the “end” he was able to see to her future. It’s now up to Violet to move forward. Anyhow, let’s move on over to the media. Ready to see another side of Violet? Enjoy!
