by Yumiko

Feeling gray?

Our newest tale begins in the city of Nagasaki. It is here where we’re introduced to Hitomi. She is a young women who has lost the ability to feel emotion. In her eyes the world is without color, though this isn’t a recent development. Hitomi’s inability to sense color began at a very young age. As she began to loss those around her, her colors began to fade away. Fortunately for Hitomi, she is apart of a magical family. Her grandmother, Kohaku, can no longer watch her granddaughter suffer inside. As such, Hitomi will be gifted a truly rare opportunity, and there’s no turning down this one. She’ll be sent back 60 years into the past to find her grandmother. The details of her mission aren’t quite clear to her, but soon enough she’ll understand why she was sent back. Welcome to the year 2018, Hitomi.

Talk about a stunning start to the season here. Visually this show knows how to charm the eyes. Hitomi may be seeing gray, yet the world around her is truly beautiful. Moreover, the first episode was a tad slow plot wise. Things are sure to pick up over the coming weeks. Still, we do know a few important details. Hitomi has experienced a number of losses over the years. It would appear even her mother is among them. Due to these events she has been hurting deeply inside. The current time can’t help heal her, but maybe something in the past can. A new set of friends, a renewed sense of purpose, and maybe some love all await Hitomi in the year 2018. Anyhow, ready for the fireworks? Enjoy the magic!

Things are a bit up in the air right now. Due to being behind a week, then the new season starting right as I finished the summer shows, I’m really in crunch time. I started reading Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken last night, but I can’t say for certain I’ll pick it up yet. The lineup here should be straighten up within the next 2 weeks, though.
